What is a Reiki Session
Imagine a session with an RMT (Registered Massage Therapist). Logistically a Reiki session is very similar to this except with Reiki you are fully clothed. There is a massage table, dark lighting, comforting music, blanket.
And that is where the similarity ends. A Reiki practitioner will connect with Reiki and pass Reiki through herself and give it to you the client, usually through her hands. She is passing Reiki, the energy of the Universe and not her own energy. This is an important fact that distinguishes Reiki from other energy modalities. Typically a Reiki practitioner will place her hands directly or float above different parts of your body during a Reiki session while you lie on the massage table. Depending on the practitioner you may be asked to first lie on the stomach then on your back or stay in one position. You can read more about how it is done at Japan Reiki Studio.
How will I feel
Typically a client may feel warmth, tingling session or coolness. Some clients may not feel anything during the session but are able to fall asleep. Whatever experience you may have during the session, rest assured that you are receiving Reiki. Some clients are more aware of their surroundings and able to feel and understand it better than others. Some clients feel a subtle shift after the session, when they return home. I was one of those people who could not feel the energy for a very long time. I attributed all the shifts that happened to a coincidence. But now I know that is was Reiki.
If you'd like to receive a Reiki session, get in touch and we can discuss further how the experience may look like for you.
Have another wonderful day.
